How it works

What is an area?

An ongoing part of your life that suffers when ignored — physical health, relationships, work, finances. Not a task, and not a goal. The app suggests ten to start from and you can rename or replace any of them.

What does "3 times a week" mean exactly?

Three separate days of attention inside the week, which runs Monday to Sunday. Two sessions on the same day count once. If you do all three on Monday, that area is done for the week and goes quiet until the week rolls over.

What counts as working on something?

About five focused minutes, or one concrete action. If you are wondering whether it counts, it counts.

Why is it suggesting that area?

It picks whatever is furthest behind, judged by how much it still owes against how many days are left in its period. An area that missed its target last period is treated as more pressing than one that is merely tight this week.

Why can I not see all my areas?

Areas that are on pace are collapsed under "on pace" so the screen shows what needs you rather than an inventory. Tap that row to expand them. To keep one permanently in view, open it and turn on Keep in view.

What is a Chaos Day?

A day off the books. Nothing is counted, no progress is expected, and nothing is owed afterwards. Turn it on when the day comes apart.

What is Low Energy mode?

Every area costs its smallest version instead of a full session — the "just the small version" action. It still counts.

What are interrupts?

Two a day by default, for urgent one-off tasks that are not areas. They spend some of your day's capacity but never count toward an area's target. If the same one-off comes up three times in two weeks, the app offers to make it a proper area.

Do I have to set my energy?

No. It is optional. Setting it stops the app suggesting more than you have room for; skipping it changes nothing else.

Common problems

The daily reminder is not arriving

Check iOS Settings → Notifications → Tide and make sure notifications are allowed. Then re-toggle the reminder in the app's Settings so it reschedules. Focus modes and Scheduled Summary can also hold notifications back.

I logged something by mistake

Tap Undo in the banner that appears right after logging. If it has gone, open the area and log the correct thing — one extra session will not distort much.

I want to start again

Settings → Start over erases everything. It cannot be undone, so export first if you might want the data.

How do I back up or move my data?

Settings → Copy my data puts a JSON copy on your clipboard that you can paste anywhere you like. There is no automatic backup, because the app has no server.

Will my data sync to my other devices?

Not currently. Everything stays on the device it was entered on. This is deliberate: no account means nothing to breach.
